Finally, there are notions that the Vikings may have used amanita muscaria to produce their berserker rages, getting them ready for battle.  There is also controversial research linking Christianity to a mushroom-eating cult, which is highly questionable.   Others support R. Gordon Wasson’s proposal that A. muscaria is the Soma talked about in the Rig Veda of India, but that has also not been proven.

What is Fly Agaric? We all knew it was coming, didn’t we?  Perhaps it hit a little sooner than expected.  For those having an ongoing love affair with K2, or those who have “trying K2″ on their bucket list, the time to stock up would be NOW.

The DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) issued a statement on November 24, 2010 basically giving a 30-day notice until a 1 Year “BAN” goes into effect for the sale, distribution, use and possession of the following chemicals: JWH-018, JWH-073, JWH-200, CP 47, 497 and cannabicyclohexanol.  Many (not all) herbal incense product are made with these chemicals as “key ingredients” so the fire sales have already begun.  Grab ‘em while you can.  Use ‘em and/or er hide ‘em too ‘cuz there’s not much time left.

That seems to be a question that is not only flying across our airwaves lately as local news stations get wind of the “K2 craze”, but also in the chat rooms and those who are more experienced with foreign substances.  Let’s face it – even folks who like to turn loose may not be willing to just throw caution to the wind without doing at least a little bit of research.  That’s what the internet is for, isn’t it?

So here we are.  Herbal incense is being called a “synthetic marijuana” and has even been banned in some states – like Kansas.  That just makes all the more appealing, doesn’t it?  You’ll find it marketed under many different names but a few of the popular ones are: K2, Magic, Serenity Now, Wicked X, Phatpugs, Red Dragon.  You know -cool sounding names.

So, these products presumably will get you high.  (We are not here to instruct you on how to use these products – that would be beyond the scope of this site).  However, what about safety?   Well, that depends.  Based on the limited amount of time that herbal incense has been in the mainstream, a few things have become very clear.  One, is that is absolutely possible, and very easy, to overdo it with herbal incense products and score yourself a fast ride ride in a shiny ambulance.  Two, there are many many inferior and counterfeit products on the market that are potentially very harmful.

Herbal Incense is a product that is being enjoyed by thousands of people on a daily basis at this point and, should you decide to join the party, your best bet would be to do your homework and only use products from reputable dealers and read a lot of reviews before making any moves.   Don’t just grab something at the local gas station that has a label on it saying “k2″ – chances are it’s crap and possibly dangerous.
